People heal from extreme stress by thinking about the experience.

This is often very hard to do, but over time it helps. When you are remembering what happened during the disaster try to not avoid thinking about it if you can. This will help you to "work it through" and help you to move forward with your recovery.

The human brain is designed to help you get through this.

Sometimes, though, memories of the disaster like the pandemic can get "stuck" and the natural healing doesn't work as effectively. If you find that you are having trouble managing your daily life due to memories and triggers related to the pandemic we recommend that you consider talking with a trauma professional to assist you in recovering (see Seeking Professional Help Destination).
